Young Toby is looking for an active new home that must be used to Terriers and is willing to continue his training. It would be great if Toby can have company most of the time and he needs to continue his training as he is very cheeky. A garden to play in is a must. He is smart, so needs his brain kept busy with tricks, games or a job. Toby is not a calm dog and he is still very young.
Toby is excited when visitors come to the home and will fetch a toy to play with them. He will eventually calm down and sit by the visitor, but he will not settle if there is another dog as he will only want to play. He is friendly with other people outside the home but will get too excited when meeting children. Toby can react by barking and jumping when cyclists or runners go by him too fast or without warning. He loves running around in a local enclosed field and is always the fastest dog. Toby loves to play with the others but sometimes gets over excited and needs to learn some manners. However, he reacts well when told off by other dogs. His recall is still being worked on and training on this and other areas should be continued in his new home. Toby responds well to positive reinforcement and loves treats!
Toby is a typical Terrier and will try to chase any small animals such as squirrels. He does not like farm animals and barks at them (he is kept on the lead). He will bark if he hears certain things or people pass the house. Toby can be left for several hours and does not seem to have separation anxiety, but would love company most of the day. He has a lot of energy and is used to having long walks every day – he loves the beach and walking up hills.
Toby is okay travelling by car, he normally calms down when music is played, but he does not enjoy noisy vehicles passing the car. Toby loves playing catch indoors and outside – he loves his ball the most. Toby may start barking at all kinds of noises if he is left alone in the garden for too long. He is intelligent and would love a new home where his brain is worked every day – he would thrive having some kind of job. However, once Toby is tired, he likes a good pet and cuddle on the sofa, and perhaps a massage (but on his terms).
Toby is a gorgeous boy with a strong character who needs further training. If you are the active and committed home with Terrier experience he is looking for, please apply for Toby!
