Amber is looking for a new home where she can have lots of company and where her confidence will be built up. She would love a garden to play and relax in and a home that has no children.
Amber has had some seizures in the past, but this has not been investigated yet. Dog Aid Scotland would cover the cost of these investigations and costs involved if she is diagnosed with a condition.* Amber is also an older dog at 9 years old and would be covered under our Old Dog Scheme for any non-routine treatment she may need, as well as any treatment for her seizures.**
Amber is a great all-round companion dog for a child-free home; she loves people and dogs, and she even does not mind cats. She can bark when there is someone at the door, when a dog walks by or when she wants attention. She can be a bit nervous of her paws being handled. Amber can be left alone for a few hours, but she very much enjoys human company and will look for a cuddle on the sofa.
Amber travels well by car. She has good walking etiquette and does not tend to pull on the lead. Amber is happy to be brushed and she has experience of going to a groomer, although she was a bit nervous.
Until recently, Amber did not have experience of going out for walks on a lead and meeting people and dogs but she loves it, she is a very sociable girl. There are still some parts of life where she can be a bit nervous but she could grow and thrive even more in a home where her confidence can be built up and where she can get lots of attention. She is very loving and affectionate and would be the perfect little companion.
Please apply for Amber if you think you have the right home for her.
*FOOD AND VETERINARY TREATMENT FUND: This fund allows Dog Aid Scotland to cover costs of pre-existing conditions once a dog has been rehomed. This means we will cover costs for vet treatment if the dog has a condition before it comes to stay with you. In this case we will covers costs relating to Amber’s seizures within reason.
**OLD DOG SCHEME: Dog Aid Scotland’s Old Dog Scheme covers dogs rehomed at 8 years old or above. This means that we will cover costs for veterinary care for the dog for the remainder of their life within reason. We do not cover costs for routine treatments such as vaccinations, worming and flea treatment. If the dog requires special dietary food we will contribute 50% of the cost. This will alleviate the worry of the financial implications taking an older dog into your home. Older dogs make great pets! Why not consider an older dog?
