Alfie is looking for a new home that must have a garden and where he can have company for most of the day. He is not suited to live in a flat or in a busy town as he does not get on with other dogs and barks. It would be great if his new owner has experience of Pugs. Alfie would love to continue his training and use his brain in his new home.

When greeting visitors, Alfie will bark at first then he is very friendly and excited to see them. He is very friendly meeting people and kids out and about, but may jump up. He also does not love his back end being touched, so this along with the jumping is why we recommend any children in the home should be aged 8 and over.

Alfie is a bit of a nervous boy; he does not like going to the vets and gets very anxious travelling by car. He can be afraid of household appliances such as the hoover or ironing board and is also anxious at the groomers, but will stand and let the groomer get on.

On walks, Alfie can pull on the lead and does not have good recall. Alfie is afraid of other dogs and will bark at them. Sadly he had a bad experience as a pup and has not forgotten it. Plus, Alfie is a lockdown pup and was not fully socialised with other dogs. But he does not seem to have separation anxiety and can be left for a few hours. He is used to having access to a secure garden and loves when someone plays with him or loves to be out playing with his toys.

Alfie has some quirks and manners to learn that could be helped with training, which he would enjoy doing – he loves treats! Our Welfare team can be on hand for his new owner(s) if support is required.

Alfie is a very sweet boy that loves going for long walks and being around people – he gets very excited going for walks and is clearly very happy. But he will also take himself to a quiet place to take a break if he needs it. He has a great character and can be mischievous and stubborn sometimes too. But he may also curl up on your lap for cuddles!

If you think you can offer a great home for Alfie, please apply for him today.
